Product Description
After a year spent trying to prevent a catastropic war among the Greek gods, Percy Jackson finds his seventh-grade school year unnervingly quiet. His biggest problem is dealing with his new friend, Tyson–a six-foot-three, mentally challenged homeless kid who follows Percy everywhere, making it hard for Percy to have any “normal” friends.
But things don’t stay quiet for long. Percy soon discovers there is trouble at Camp Half-Blood: The magical borders which … More >>

I’m sorry I ever bought these books for my son. This second Percy Jackson book is even worse than the first one. The story was so uninteresting it couldn’t hold my interest or my son’s.
My other “complaint” is that the characters were so flat. There was not one person who was described physically; especially there was no psychlogical depth to these people. The search for the *prize* was all we knew about any of these folks.
The holding out of some of information was too staged, to obvious. A disturbing event which was introduced early on, was not exposed until much later, but it was referred to over and over. Even the explanations given in two different parts of the books were insufficient for all the build up.
Except for some minor introduction in the beginning, we didn’t know much about anything. I can accept a story that is totally plot driven, but so many characters were marched out who were not really developed, they just peopled the landscape.
I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone unless they are bored and the book is free.

We all loved Lightning Thief and had a hard time waiting for this book to get to us….and then…what a bummer. It’s not very funny, it’s full of stale PC/moral relativism stuff that you find in way too many YA novels these days, and the battles against the monsters aren’t as exciting or original. It just seemed like a rush job to us. We will check the next one out of the library sometime over the summer to see if Mr. Riordan gets back on track.
We’d recommend either the Bartimeus Trilogy or Gregor the Overlander over this book.

This was an excellent book and topped The Lightning Theif the sequel before before this book you must read to understand the sea of monsters that one.The y both include action adventure and is educational because most the information is true and real Greek mythology.

This book is the BEST book i’ve ever read. It’s full of fun and thrilling adventures, with Percy Jackson, his friend Annebeth, and his brother cyclops Tyson (and Percy is not a cyclops only Tyson is)on a adventure to save one of Percy’s best friends Grover and to save Camp Half Blood (a camp for people with 1 parent god and 1 parent mortal usually called Half Bloods). The problem at camp is that Thelias tree’s been poisoned and the tree creats a magical force field that keeps monsters from invading camp. And Grover has gone on a quest to find the god of nature Pan who mysteriously disappeared. Grover who’s a Stayer (half goat half human) can sense nature and senses the Golden Fleece wich is always radianting nature. He follows his senses to a island in the Sea of Monsters. But on the island he finds the Golden Fleece not Pan and is kept hostage by the cyclops who thinks he’s a lady cyclops and wants to marry him. Then at camp Clarries a daughter of Ares the god of war is elected to go save Grover and find the fleece. Percy gets mad that he can’t go and secretly sneaks of to do the quest with Annebeth and Tyson, And the finnaly get to the island and rescue the Fleece and Grover but the let Clarries take credit since it was her quest. And in the end the Fleece saves the tree and Grover gets home safe.
